Man Who Stole Humane Society’s Tip Jar Charged With Burglary Loop Cayman Islands

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service confirmed that a 31-year-old man from George Town was arrested on Wednesday, April 10, for several crimes, including Burglary and theft from motor vehicles, and has since been charged with three counts of Burglary.

The RCIPS said that the Burglary charges relate to three separate incidents at commercial properties in George Town.

According to the RCIPS, the first incident took place on March 1 at the Humane Society on North Sound Road in George Town. A tip Jar containing money was stolen from the location.

The second incident took place on April 1 at a Reflections outlet on North Church Street. Cash and other items from the store were stolen.

The third incident took place on April 8 at the Popo Jebs Restaurant and Bar, also located on North Church Street in Georg Town. Cash, liquor, and tobacco products were stolen there.

The man was kept in custody as investigations were carried out in relation to these various offenses.

He appeared in court today, April 12, where he was remanded in custody and is scheduled to re-appear on Tuesday, April 16, at 10 am.
