The National Police in the Department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia, reported yesterday, April 15, 2024, that a 25-year-old foreigner was arrested after more than 10,000 doses of cocaine hydrochloride were found in his luggage at the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in the municipality of Palmira.

The foreigner, whose nationality was not disclosed, was attempting to board a flight to London with a stopover in Bogotá and a connection to Frankfurt, Germany.

During routine checks at the airport, authorities detected “strange elements” in one of the foreigner’s suitcases. It was at this time that the authorities discovered that the man disguised the cocaine hydrochloride as bags of powdered milk.

After being charged with trafficking, manufacturing, and/or possession of narcotics, the foreigner reportedly became nervous and stated that he had done it to help himself with his academic studies.

Commenting on the incident, the National Police, in the Department of Valle del Cauca, said they “will continue to carry out strict controls, in order to guarantee the safety and tranquility of all Valle del Cauca residents, thereby preventing them from reaching the hands of our children and adolescents who do so much harm to them.”
