According to a claim filed in the Summary Court on April 18, 2024, Lovell Marriott is suing the Commissioner of Police and the Attorney General for $20,000 in damages.

Based on the claim, the damages relate to Ms Mariott allegedly having “No access to her car/inconvenience”…  “because of Police Negligence.”

The claim alleged that a man “towed his dump truck and used it to block Ms Lovell Marriott’s car in her driveway before her apartment at Randyke Garden Apartment.”

Reportedly, Ms Mariott reported the matter to 911 over ten times and wrote to the Governor, Deputy Governor, and Commissioner of Police in 2023 and 2024.

Allegedly, the police promised Ms Mariott that they would contact the dump truck owner and have it removed.

Allegedly, when officers asked the man to remove his truck, he refused.

The claim explained that “Ms Marriott does not have access to her car and has to walk miles daily to beg for a ride to get around in the sun.”

Marriott said that the Commissioner of Police “is indebted to her or is liable to pay her for not having access to the Car since December 7, 2023, because of Police Negligence.”

Marriott added that “The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) Police Negligence has caused misery and disrupted the peace.”

She will now ask the Court to award her $20,000 in damages for the foregoing.
