The Government of the Virgin Islands plans to release $15 million in income tax refunds next week, Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach announced Monday, saying the payments are intended to provide relief to residents as households continue to face rising living costs.

The latest batch is also part of the government’s ongoing effort to reduce its outstanding tax refund obligations ahead of St. Thomas Carnival.

“We are preparing to issue $15 million in income tax refunds next week,” Mr. Roach said during a press briefing on Monday.

“We know these refunds make a real difference for families, especially at a time where households are trying to manage the rising cost of living,” he added.

According to the lieutenant governor, the new round of payments will continue the government’s effort to reduce what it still owes taxpayers in refunds.

“We are pleased to be able to move this next round of payments at this time,” Mr. Roach said.
