Legoland Real Estate Ltd.’s application to build a ten-storey building with 189 bedrooms on Boilers Road is back on the agenda for the next Central Planning Authority (CPA) meeting on April 24, 2024.

As previously reported, the ten-storey building is a redevelopment of an existing residential development. According to the applicant, the redeveloped property will house 162 families and “will bring life to George Town.”

Given that the building may be in the vicinity of the flight path for airplanes, a concern was raised about the height of the building. Agency comments from the Cayman Islands Airport Authority (CIAA) addressed this, noting that “The CIAA has no objections to this proposed development, provided that the building, or any extensions of the building, do not exceed 46m AMSL.”

CIAA added: “The applicant has confirmed in writing that the height of the building will not exceed 46 metres AMSL.”

Regarding increased Boilers Road traffic, the National Roads Authority’s estimates were as follows:

NRA concluded that based on these estimates, “the impact of the proposed development onto Boilers Road is considered to be moderate.”

The application will be discussed at the CPA meeting on April 24, 2024, at 10 am in Conference Room 1038, 1st Floor, Government Administration Building, 133 Elgin Avenue, George Town.
