ST. CROIX — St. Croix Central High School has transitioned to virtual learning for Tuesday after heavy rainfall prompted an early closure of the campus on Monday, the V.I. Dept. of Education has announced.
Students were dismissed midday due to weather-related impacts on school facilities and operations, a statement from the department explained.
The shift to online instruction allows for the continuation of education while the school addresses the flooding’s aftermath. Central High School students are instructed to engage with their teachers through Teams during their regular class hours. Assignments will be distributed and submitted through Teams and Schoology.
Education officials said the department is undertaking necessary cleaning and assessments to ensure the campus is safe for the return of students and staff, with the aim of resuming in-person classes by Wednesday.
Despite the disruptions at Central High School, all other schools within the district remain unaffected and will continue their usual operations.
