Honduran Armed Forces Locate & Seize 67,000 Coca Leaf Bushes Loop Cayman Islands

Armed forces in Honduras confirmed today, March 18, 2024, that they located and seized 67,000 coca leaf bushes in the last 48 hours.  The coca leaf bushes, which can be harvested, soaked in gasoline, and later dried into bricks, were spread over nine blocks of land.

The Honduran authorities added that “In the operations aimed at combating drug trafficking that were carried out in Iriona Colón and Trinidad Santa Bárbara, three drug laboratories with chemical precursors for the production of coca paste were also seized.”

The eradication of a marijuana plantation in Vado Ancho, Tocoa Colón was also carried out, which had two blocks of land and two thousand plants of the hallucinogen.

So far this year, the Armed Forces have located and secured 29 coca leaf and suspected marijuana plantations, 8 drug laboratories have been destroyed and more than a million plants have been eradicated.

The authorities confirmed that their efforts are ongoing throughout Honduras, and “special operations teams from the Army, Air Force, Naval Force and the PMOP are carrying out security operations to locate more plantations in various sectors of the country.”
