Cayman swimmers Alison Jackson, Kyra Rabess, and Sarah Jackson contributed to their University of Northern Colorado Athletics team’s record-breaking performance at the 2024 Western Athletic Conference Championships held at the Pharr Natatorium in Texas.

On day one, February 28, 2024, Alison Jackson, along with her teammates Katelyn Bergin, Maria Erokhina, and Payten Irwin, completed the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay in 1:40.05, setting a new school record

On the same day, Alison, Cayman teammate Kyra Rabess and others completed the Women 800 Yard Freestyle Relay in 7:16.69. This gave them second place, and, according to the University of Northern Colorado Athletics, this “lowered the all-time school mark in the event by six seconds.”

On day two, February 29, Sarah Jackson and Alison Jackson participated in the Women’s 50 Yard Freestyle.

Alison Jackson finished third in the A-Finals with a time of 23.20, inching closer to her personal best of 23.03 set in November 2023.

Sarah Jackson completed the B-Finals in 23.88 and continues to perform well in this event.

Adding to the outstanding performances by the Jackson sisters was Kyra Rabess, who swam in the Women’s 500 Yard Freestyle.

Kyra recorded a new personal best time of 4:49.79, which “eclipsed the previous best time in the 500-yard freestyle in program history,” according to the University of Northern Colorado Athletics.

Based on the Swim Cloud data below, Kyra has a bright future in this event. In fact, this new personal best is probably temporary for Kyra, and she will likely break this threshold and hit a further high in this event soon.

Moving onto day 3, March 1, Kyra demolished her previous time in the Women’s 200 Yard Freestyle finals at 1:49.09. According to Swim Cloud, this was a new personal best and earned her second place.

Her teammate, Alison Jackson, also swam in the finals of this race, finishing at 1:49.89. According to Swim Cloud, she improved her previous time and is also a season-best.

With her continued hard work, Alison will inevitably surpass this time and last year’s 1:49.42 set at these Western Athletic Conference Championships.

In addition to Alison’s performance, Meet Mobile reflects that Sarah Jackson completed the preliminaries of this race in 1:55.36. Based on the below Swim Cloud data, she is on her way to her personal best of 1:52.95 set at the Western Athletic Conference Championships in February 2023.

The success of the Cayman swimmers and their team continued on March 2, when Alison Jackson completed the finals of the Women’s 100 Yard Freestyle in 50.28, and Sarah Jackson recorded 52.91.

According to Meet Mobile, Sarah Jackson also swam on March 2, but in the Women’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. She completed that race with her teammates Martina Yuk Trionfetti, Payten Irwin and Kyra Rabess. The team finished in 3:26.48.

Lastly, Kyra Rabess completed the Women’s 1650 Yard Freestyle in 16:36.52, giving her second place in the event.

According to the University of Northern Colorado Athletics, Kyra also achieved a school record time of 9:58.33 in the 1000 Yard Freestyle.
