The Cayman Heart Fund is changing its name to the Cayman Heart Foundation. The announcement was made Friday, 16 February 2024, while Patron H. E. Governor Jane Owen toured the new community health centre during the opening of the new CHF headquarters.
Situated at 10 Pasadora Place, Smith Road in George Town, the Cayman Heart Foundation will extend its services by offering free heart health screenings to the Cayman community. These screenings include assessments for weight and BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose levels, and consultations with healthcare professionals. Appointments for screenings can be requested by emailing [email protected] or calling 746-1490.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the CHF’s expansion and the establishment of the community health centre, Chairperson Maureen Cubbon stated, “This transition reflects our evolving mission to not only raise awareness about heart health but also to actively engage with and support our community in achieving optimal well-being. By offering free heart health screenings, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to take proactive steps towards a healthier heart.”
Governor Jane Owen expressed her support, stating, “Launching a community health centre represents a significant investment in the health and well-being of the Cayman community. I commend the Cayman Heart Foundation for its dedication to improving access to heart health services and education, and I am proud to stand alongside them in this endeavour.”
Cubbon adds, “CHF is honoured to have the support of Governor Owen, whose presence at the opening underscored the significance of this milestone. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters, partners, and volunteers whose dedication continues to drive our mission forward.”
Soon, CHF’s community health centre will also offer CPR classes to empower individuals with life-saving skills. These classes will be available to the public, providing valuable training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques. Additionally, heart healthy lunch and learn sessions and other supportive services will also be based out of the community centre in the near future.
