The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said that a 51-year-old man, who is a Cayman resident, died on Sunday, March 3 after experiencing diffulties at Stingray City.
Police shared that around 4:40 pm on Sunday, the Cayman Islands Coast Guard officers responded to a report of a person in distress at the Stingray City Sandbar.
It was reported that a man had been in the water when he experienced difficulties and became unresponsive.
CPR was performed by persons at the location until Coast Guard officers arrived on scene.
The man was transported back to shore by the Coast Guard vessel as CPR was continued by the officers onboard, and then to the Cayman Islands Hospital via ambulance. He was subsequently pronounced dead.
