Last Thursday, April 30, the Business faculty of Wesley College hosted its annual business fair, in which 4th form business students presented small businesses to market a unique product to parents, fellow schoolmates and the students of Wesley Junior College.
According to business teacher Cindy Rowland, a 20-year veteran teacher, the 80 students of the 4th form business class were tasked with developing a small business, complete with a Belize City Trade License and registration certificate from the Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry. Rowland and her colleagues of the business department, Liseny Romero and Jessica Romero, instructed their three classes of students in how to set up their businesses. The students each designed a professional quality banner for their business, and printed business cards that included a street address, email and phone number, as well as colorfully designed menus of their snack offerings.

The students formed teams of 6 students each to market their products, which included: cheesecake; ice cream; slushies; nachos; “Spicy Bites” (stuffed jalapeño peppers made from Doritos, Takis and hot Cheetos); “Tres Leches” cake; flour tortilla burritos; no-diet fries; hot dogs; fresh fruit cups; chipotle bowls with rice, beans and chicken; cupcakes; and soft drinks. The students of St. John’s College held a similar annual fair for their 3rd form business students, also on Thursday; while the Anglican Cathedral College held its annual school fair, all day at Battlefield Park.
