After nearly a month, police announced Monday that they had arrested and charged a Virgin Gorda man with drug-related offences following a joint operation with customs officials at the Road Town ferry terminal on Sept. 9.

J’Quoi Lloyd, 26, of The Valley, was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another and untrue declaration and importation of a controlled drug, the Police Information Office stated in a press release.

“During routine inspections, a quantity of suspected cannabis was recovered from a package claimed by Lloyd, who had just arrived on a ferry from St. Thomas,” the release stated.

“Lloyd was arrested at the scene, transported to the Road Town Police Station for further questioning, and was subsequently charged.”

Police did not explain why they announced the incident nearly a month after it happened, but they urged residents to report any suspicious activity by calling the police Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or the anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS) locally or 284-800-8477 from overseas.
