Suspect in Lorraine Village Homicide Arrested, Faces $1 Million Bail

The V.I. Police Department has announced the swift arrest of Kertis Tonge, the suspect in the Lorraine Village shooting that left 35-year-old Quanza Heath dead. Tonge was apprehended and transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility, where he is being held on a $1 million bail while awaiting his Advise of Rights hearing.

The shooting occurred today at around 11:46 a.m., when multiple gunshots were reported in Lorraine Village. Officers responding to the scene found Heath with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was rushed to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The incident marked the 33rd homicide in the U.S. Virgin Islands for 2024​.

Authorities had issued an all-points bulletin for Tonge, describing him as armed and dangerous before his capture. The investigation remains active, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 340-774-2211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
