St. Croix Marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day With March, Rally, and Community Reflections
Residents across St. Croix gathered Monday to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a march and rally organized by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil Rights Committee, bringing together community members, students, faith leaders, labor representatives, and elected officials for a day centered on remembrance, reflection, and civic unity.
The day began with a march that assembled in Sunny Isle before proceeding to the Island Center for the Performing Arts, where a formal rally and program followed. Participants included school groups, youth organizations, community volunteers, and marching units, with attendees lining the route and joining in along the way.
The rally program featured ceremonial elements, musical performances, spoken word tributes, and youth presentations, along with remarks from community leaders and public officials. Moments of silence were observed in honor of individuals recognized during the program, alongside tributes reflecting on Dr. King’s legacy and the continued pursuit of justice and equality.
Images from the day show participants carrying banners, youth groups marching in formation, and families attending together, while video footage captures scenes from the march and moments from the rally program.
