Police Call For Witnesses Of Wounding Incident In George Town Loop Cayman Islands

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said that just before 7:40 pm on Saturday, May 16, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to Market Street, George Town, where it was reported that a wounding incident had taken place.

It was reported that two men, who are known to each other, were engaged in a dispute, which resulted in one of the men being assaulted by the other using a bladed weapon. The injured man was rendered first aid by security and police officers, following which he was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The other involved party fled the scene prior to the police arrival, however, a weapon believed to have been used to carry out the assault was located and recovered as evidence. No other injuries have been reported to the police as a result of this incident.

The police are investigating the incident, and detectives are seeking witnesses to assist in the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
