Further to Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s announcement in February 2024 of plans for a 2,240-space parking garage at Miami International Airport, the global travel hub is reminding MIA customers that the arrivals level “will be reduced to three lanes from concourses G to J (Doors 20 to 33) from May 1, 2024, to November 2024” to facilitate construction.

The new parking garage, dubbed “Park 6,” is expected to cost $136 million and is a part of Miami International Airport’s “7 billion Next Chapter capital improvement program, which is making airport-wide modernizations and expansions over the next five to 15 years, and paving the way for MIA to reach a projected 77 million travelers and four million tons of freight by the year 2040.”

Park 6 will include special features to improve customers’ experience parking at the airport, whether waiting for arriving customers or otherwise.

Regarding these unique features, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said:

… in about two years from now, we will have this brand new, state of the art parking facility.

This is also going to be a resilient parking facility.

We’re going to have energy efficient led lighting.

We’re going to have park smart silver certification, and that’s a global seal of approval that will recognise our high performing, sustainable practises in this garage.

She added: “So what we do here is really critically important as we make our way to a net zero emissions future, the goal that’s been set out in our climate action strategy.”

Scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026, Miami International Airport said that Park 6 will also “create more availability” in their “Dolphin and Flamingo garages while also expanding parking on the south side of the airport.”

During the construction period, Miami International Airport advised that “Airport visitors should plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling through this area.”

Miami International Airport added, “Dedicated taxi lanes will remain open, and hotel shuttles will now pick up and drop off at the departures level” and “Dedicated Miami-Dade Aviation Department officers will be on-site to assist airport users and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.”
