BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Oct. 29, 2026
Belize City police are investigating two shootings which took place in a matter of hours on Thursday morning, October 29.
Dodrick Madrill, 19, a vendor, was on his way to work, when he fell victim to a gunman’s bullet on Jane Usher Boulevard near the Freedom Street intersection. He collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Madrill had become known to law enforcement authorities when he was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in February 2025. Police have yet to confirm a motive for the shooting of Madrill. They are also investigating the subsequent shooting of Tafaree Sanchez, 25, who was shot on George Street later Thursday morning, and is reportedly in a stable condition. Sanchez had been charged with three counts of attempted murder following a brazen shooting on the Philip Goldson Highway near a school in October 2025.
