ST. THOMAS, USVI — A mass shooting in Contant Knolls on Saturday, December 21, has left one person dead and five others injured. The Virgin Islands Police Department confirmed the incident, which remains under active investigation.
According to preliminary reports, the VIPD was alerted to the gunfire by the ShotSpotter detection system. Shortly after, citizens called 911 to report multiple victims at the scene. Glen Dratte, the VIPD's director of communications, said emergency responders, including VIPD officers, Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS), and St. Thomas Rescue, rushed to the area to provide aid.
Five individuals were treated for gunshot wounds, while one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Details about the victims’ identities and conditions were not immediately released, and the identity of the deceased is being withheld until next of kin are notified.
