Man Hospitalized After Evening Shooting in Frederiksted; Suspect in Custody
ST. CROIX — Police are investigating a shooting in Frederiksted that left one man hospitalized Saturday evening, with a suspect already in custody as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the VIPD, the shooting occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. on January 3 at the intersection of Fisher and Queen Street in Frederiksted. The incident involved a male victim who sustained gunshot wounds, police said.
Emergency responders transported the victim to Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Authorities did not release information on the victim’s condition beyond confirming that he remains under care.
VIPD said a suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau, along with VIPD Forensic Services, were dispatched to the scene and are actively conducting the investigation.
Police stressed that the case remains active and ongoing, and that additional details will be released as they become available. Anyone with information related to the shooting is encouraged to contact the VIPD or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
