The Government of the Virgin Islands has issued nearly $15 million in tax refunds, Government House announced Wednesday. The administration said checks totaling $14,706,351.17 were distributed to 5,044 taxpayers whose returns were filed by March 1, 2023. This follows earlier distributions of $5.1 million to 1,260 taxpayers in July and an additional $5.1 million to 1,745 taxpayers in August.

Governor Albert Bryan reiterated his administration's commitment to issuing tax refunds. "We know that the financial burdens being faced by far too many of us require a concerted effort on the government’s behalf. Issuance of these tax refund checks is a vital step in easing the strain," he said. Mr. Bryan emphasized that the administration would continue working to ensure that every Virgin Islander who is owed a tax refund receives one.

This payout comes on the heels of a September 9 announcement, in which the government pledged to distribute an additional $27 million in income tax refunds over the next 30 days.
