Former Home Depot Employee Arrested for Theft and Embezzlement, Admits to Stealing Thousands in Merchandise

ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department's Economic Crimes Unit has arrested and charged a former Home Depot employee, KyJean Nisbett, with grand larceny and embezzlement by an employee following an investigation into a series of thefts at the store.

According to the VIPD, the investigation began on March 27, 2024, when detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit started looking into allegations of theft involving Nisbett. The probe revealed that Nisbett had admitted to the multi-asset protection manager at The Home Depot that he had repeatedly stolen merchandise from the store while employed there. Nisbett reportedly sold the stolen items to unidentified individuals.

Nisbett estimated the total value of the stolen goods to be between $8,000 and $9,000. However, Home Depot was able to verify a loss amounting to $3,226.

After the investigation concluded, Nisbett turned himself in to the Economic Crimes Unit on September 16, 2024, accompanied by his attorney. He was subsequently served with an arrest warrant and taken into custody without incident. Nisbett, 25, was formally charged with grand larceny and embezzlement by an employee.

Following his arrest, Nisbett was processed and booked with bail set at $35,000. Unable to post bail, he was transported to the John A. Bell Correctional Facility, where he awaits his Advice of Rights hearing scheduled for September 17, 2024.
