The Cabinet has now published its meeting summary for Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Her Excellency, the Governor, Mrs. Jane Owen, chaired the Cabinet meeting in the Cabinet Conference Room of the Government Administration Building.

The Hon Deputy Premier acted for the Hon Premier, the Hon Minister for Sustainability and Climate Resiliency acted as Deputy Premier, and the Hon Minister for Health and Wellness and Home Affairs acted for the Hon Minister for Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport and Development and Mrs Reshma Sharma acted as Attorney General. All other Ministers and Members of the Cabinet were present.

At this meeting Cabinet:

Approved the issuance of drafting instructions to amend the following: Births & Deaths Registration Act (2021 Revision); Building Societies Act (2020 Revision); Civil Partnership Act (2020 Revision); Companies Act (2023 Revision); Cooperative Societies Act (2020 Revision); Exempted Limited Partnership Act (2021 Revision); Friendly Societies Act (1998 Revision); Limited Liability Companies Act (2023 Revision); Limited Liability Partnership Act (2023 Revision); Marriage Act (2010 Revision); Non-Profit Organisations Act (2020 Revision); Public Recorder Act (2023 Revision); Trade Union Act (2019 Revision); and Trusts Act (2021 Revision);Approved the re-appointment of the following persons to the Adoption Board: Sheridan Brooks-Hurst, Chair; and Ashlyn Goubault-Ebanks, Secretary;Approved the issuance of a Coastal Works Permit to repair and enhance the existing seawall on Crown property adjacent to Block 14BG Parcel 99;Approved the applications for the appointment of the following persons as Notaries Public: Joel Burke; Robyn McLean; Grace Myrie; Sandra Powery De Perez; Davina Ramoutar; Kimberley Conolly; Kalia Connor; Elvis Coward; Gavin Dixon; and Joan MacFarlane;Approved the Local Companies (Control) (Fees) Regulations, 2024;Approved the re-appointment of Robert Lewis as a voting member of the National Sports Commission;Approved the National Energy Policy 2024-2045; the adoption of the National Energy Policy Monitoring and Implementation Plan 2024-2045; publication of the Policy and the National Energy Policy 2023-2050 Public Consultation Report 2023; and tabling in Parliament; In relation to the Work Permit Board:

            o Accepted the resignation of Daisy Martin and recorded gratitude for her service;

o Approved the appointment of Jerry Wallace Wood as Chair and Judy-Ann Morgan as Deputy Chair;

• Approved the issuance of drafting instructions to amend Schedule 1 of the Customs Tariff Act (2023 Revision) and the Customs and Border Control (Prohibited Goods) Order (2023 Revision);

• Approved the proposal to conduct a salvage operation under the strict supervision of the Department of Environment;

• Noted the tax exemption statistics for January 2024 and February 2024;

• Noted the continued legal implications and urgency to create a Cat Pound within the Islands and issue Exemption Order(s); and

• Noted the plan to develop a 10-year National Health Strategy.
