In observance of National Public Health Week and to promote both physical and mental wellness among government employees, Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has authorized administrative leave for non-essential personnel who wish to take part in the upcoming Employee Resource Group Wednesday Walk.

The event, scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., is being organized by the V.I. Department of Health. It forms part of the government’s continued efforts to support employee well-being across the territory.

To accommodate participation, Governor Bryan has directed that 1.5 hours of administrative leave be granted to all non-essential government employees, effective from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This temporary leave is intended to allow employees the time needed to engage in the wellness walk, which focuses on promoting healthy lifestyles through physical activity and mental health awareness.

“Encouraging health and wellness for all members of our community is a priority for this administration,”Governor Bryan stated. “By supporting events like the Employee Resource Group Wednesday Walk, we hope to foster a culture of well-being within our workforce. It is important that we take care of ourselves, both physically and mentally, so that we can better serve our families, our communities, and our territory.”

It is important to note that this administrative leave does not apply to essential employees, nor to those on regular or rotating shifts, or employees already on annual or sick leave. Each commissioner and agency head has been authorized to determine eligibility and grant the administrative leave accordingly.

Governor Bryan is encouraging all eligible government employees to take full advantage of the opportunity to participate in this health-focused initiative.
