Eric Nelson, 25, a supervisor at a business processing outsourcing (BPO) company, was shot in the head on Lakeview Street near the Ghost Town area of Belize City, around 6:58 Saturday evening, June 13.

Police have so far not determined the motive for the murder, as Nelson had no criminal record and had not been involved in any run-ins with the law. Police suspect that the shooting may have resulted from heightened tension in the area, following Kiffer McKenzie’s murder that morning, and that those in the Lakeview area, who are affiliated with McKenzie’s associates from the Majestic Alley area, may have directed their ire at Nelson.
Nelson had been promoted to the position of supervisor at his place of employment the day before, and he was out celebrating when the killer struck. According to his co-workers, he was a smart, humble young man, who had been promoted to a supervisory position on Friday, and he had been overjoyed at this career advancement.
