Fire in Long Look under investigation
An investigation into a fire in a residential area of Long Look on Monday is under way, according to Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Service.
Acting Deputy Fire Chief Marcus Malone told the Beacon Tuesday that the cause of the blaze and the extent of the damage had not been yet determined.
No injuries were reported, and a residential building at the site of the blaze was uninhabited, he said.
“The investigation has not concluded as of yet,” Mr. Malone added.
Fire officers, he said, responded just before 10 a.m. and extinguished the fire around 11 a.m.
Footage uploaded on Facebook showed large plumes of smoke coming from behind a building in the residential area.
Mr. Malone said that a few older vehicles in the yard of the property, as well as some small items such as tools, were damaged in the fire.
Fire officers were on the scene Tuesday with police, Mr. Malone said, adding that a detailed report will be issued in the coming days.
