ST. THOMAS — A woman sought by police in connection with a violent restroom assault at Crown Bay Marina last year has turned herself in and now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, following an investigation that included viral video evidence and surveillance footage.

Imai Demming surrendered to authorities Tuesday morning after the V.I. Police Department circulated a wanted poster seeking her arrest in connection with an assault reported in October 2025. The incident occurred inside a restroom at Crown Bay Marina and was later widely shared on social media.

According to police, the victim reported that she was attacked on the night of October 7, 2025, while visiting the marina with a friend from Tortola. The woman told investigators that she and her friend were at an establishment around 8 p.m. when Demming and two friends entered, passed by them, and sat at a nearby table. The victim said she had been subjected to harassment from Demming on social media for several weeks, following a social media post advertising a lash repair service she had performed. The original eyelash application, she told police, had been done by one of Demming’s friends.

The victim said she and her friend ignored the group and later left for a nearby bar. She told police that she subsequently received a call urging her to return to the original establishment because Demming wanted to fight. The victim said she declined, stating she had no animosity toward Demming, and instead went with her friend to another location to get food before returning to Crown Bay to meet additional friends.

When she arrived back at the marina shortly before 1 a.m., the woman told police she went directly to the restroom. While inside a stall, she said she heard Demming and her friends enter the bathroom and heard Demming say she wanted to fight. The victim reported that she exited the stall and went to the sink to wash her hands, attempting to ignore the situation.

Police said the assault then occurred, with Demming attacking the woman while one friend stood guard at the restroom door and another recorded the incident. Investigators said Demming bit the victim on the face and right shoulder and forcibly removed her wig. The victim’s friend attempted to intervene but was allegedly fought off by the person recording the incident. A man who heard the disturbance reportedly entered the restroom and separated the individuals.

After the incident, one of Demming’s friends who had recorded the assault reportedly attempted to apologize to the injured woman, but the victim declined and instead sought medical treatment before reporting the incident to police. The victim later told authorities that the assault left her with a permanent scar on her face.

The video of the altercation circulated widely on social media and was later emailed to a VIPD detective. Police said the footage corroborated the victim’s account. Surveillance video from Crown Bay Center also provided additional evidence related to the incident.

After turning herself in, Demming declined to give a statement to police. She was charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault, simple assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, and disturbance of the peace. She was remanded into custody and appeared Wednesday before Magistrate Julie Smith Todman, who found probable cause to uphold the charges.

The court set bail at $25,000, with a 10 percent cash requirement for release pending trial. If released, Ms. Demming will be required to contact the probation office twice weekly by telephone and remain at least 30 feet away from the victim at all times.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for February 13.
