Road Repairs Underway on Seven Flaggs Road in St. Croix

ST. CROIX — The V.I. Department of Public Works has announced the commencement of road repairs on Seven Flaggs Road in St. Croix, following damage caused by torrential rainfall. The restoration project began on Thursday, December 5, and is expected to last 14 calendar days.

According to DPW, the project will involve the restoration of approximately 1,000 linear feet of public roadway that was severely impacted. The contractor, Marco St. Croix Inc., is tasked with grading the damaged section, installing a new granular fill road base, and paving it with asphalt once the foundation is stabilized. The repairs also include super-elevating the roadway to improve stormwater runoff flow. An earth swale connected to the existing concrete ditches will also be constructed to divert stormwater away from the road, minimizing future damage.

DPW Commissioner Derek Gabriel acknowledged the significant damage to the road caused by ongoing trenching work and heavy rainfall. “We’ve gotten a lot of complaints from residents and so we’ve directed Liberty VI to make extensive restoration repairs to Seven Flaggs Road as the roadway suffered extensive damages resulting from the ongoing trenching project and the rainy weather that followed,” Commissioner Gabriel stated.

The department is asking for the community's patience as it undertakes this and other projects aimed at improving road conditions across the territory.
