Man Shot Dead in Hospital Ground, St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department has confirmed a fatal shooting incident that occurred late Wednesday morning in the Hospital Ground area of St. Thomas.

According to the department, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received multiple notifications through ShotSpotter, the VIPD’s gunfire detection system, which registered five alerts from the vicinity.

Following these alerts, several witnesses called 911 to report a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived at the scene and confirmed the individual deceased upon arrival. The VIPD is withholding the victim’s identity pending next of kin notification.

The incident is currently under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this recent homicide, which carries the territory’s total for 2024 to 35, to send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI through this link.
