The V.I. Department of Education has issued an urgent alert notifying parents and guardians across the St. Croix District that school bus transportation services will not be in effect today, Thursday, October 3. The suspension impacts all routes and stops for students throughout the district.

Parents and guardians are being asked to make alternate arrangements to ensure their children can safely get to and from their respective schools for the day. The VIDE’s notice stressed the importance of taking swift action to address transportation needs and emphasized that the suspension applies to all students, regardless of the route or stop they typically use.

The suspension of bus services comes one day after a bus driver was brutally beaten by at least three male students who attended the St. Croix Central High School. The incident led to swift enforcement action, with an adult student facing felony charges, while two minor students involved in the assault will face the juvenile court. All students involved face expulsion.
