Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, MP for the electoral district of West Bay Central, is reminding residents of the area that a meeting will be held tonight, Wednesday, March 15, at 7pm at the Church of God in West Bay at 108 Capt. Reginald Parsons Drive.
According to MP Wilks’ social media page, the purpose of the meeting is to consider the formation of an “interim” district council for West Bay Central, which is expected to assist MP Wilks in addressing and resolving issues facing constituents of West Bay Central.
MP Wilks, who has remained in touch with members of her constituency since being elected, is understood to be taking the proactive step to establish an interim district council so that members of her community can be prepared when the official district councils are established following anticipated revisions of the law.
Other MPs are expected to follow the proactive move by MP Wilks to comply with the spirit of the Cayman constitution to have advisory district councils and to improve transparency, good governance, and accountability.
