The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) is informing the public of several road closures on Saturday, May 27, to facilitate events for the Global March for Jesus.
The closures are as follows:
Saturday, May 17, from 3 pm to 9 pm:
West Bay Road will be closed between Lime Tree Bay Avenue and the Seven Mile Public Beach roundabout from 2:00 pm as various groups set up on the southbound lane of West Bay Road. Access to the public beach, along with businesses and residences in the area, will be permittedThe march will proceed south along West Bay Road from 3:00 pm, continue south along North Church Street, and conclude along Albert Panton Street. Road junctions will be closed ahead of the parade as it proceedsAs the procession passes closed junctions, these will be re-opened to afford motorists the use of the road to the rear of the processionAlbert Panton Street will then be closed between Fort Street and Cardinal Avenue for a gospel concert that concludes at 9:00 pm.
General traffic advisories are as follows:
Patrons attending the concert in the George Town area are advised that parking along the roadway and/or causing any obstructions is not permitted. Police signage and cones will be in place to assist and guide the motoring publicFines via tickets will be issued to any vehicle found in contravention of the Traffic Act 2021.
