London commuters look likely to be hit by a rail strike as well as a walkout on the Tube network after union bosses defiantly insisted industrial action would go ahead. The planned 48-hour strike is set to affect First Great Western trains from stations including Paddington and will begin at 6.30pm on Wednesday. It will cause chaos on services between London and parts of the West Country and Wales, affecting cricket fans going to Cardiff for the first Ashes Test which starts on Wednesday.
