Police catch up with wanted man in the Brac; suspect suffers injuries | Loop Cayman Islands

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service reported that, on Tuesday, March 22, a wanted man was arrested in Cayman Brac on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods in relation to offences alleged to have taken place in Grand Cayman.

According to the police, at about 11:40am on Tuesday, March 22, officers on patrol on Creek Road in Cayman Brac approached the wanted man. Officers attempted to arrest the man, however he allegedly began to behave in a disorderly manner and allegedly resisted arrest while holding a knife which he had been carrying on his person. Officers were able to disarm the man, age 48 of George Town, and arrested him on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods.

Police said that the man suffered minor injuries during the incident and was treated by medical personnel. One of the officers involved was also injured and attended Faith Hospital, was treated, and subsequently discharged.

The man was further arrested for resisting arrest and assaulting police. He has been transported to Grand Cayman, and remains in custody as investigations continue.
