The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) reported that they have become aware of a video being circulated online that contains explicit or harmful content and they are now asking members of the public cease circulation of the video.

According to the RCIPS, the video was posted on social media and contains claims of sexual assault, however, based on a statement from the police, no evidence or information has been found to substantiate the claims made by the individual. This being the case, police say that further circulation of the video will only cause unnecessary alarm and distress in the community.

Police further confirmed that they are investigating this incident, identified the individual responsible and are working with agency partners to provide appropriate intervention.

Regarding future incidents like this, police said that, if members of the public become aware of explicit or harmful content online, they should contact the RCIPS so that action can be taken to investigate incidents appropriately.
