The Honduran National Police said yesterday, February 11, 2024, that they seized contraband consisting of over 14,000 units of tennis shoes, caps, backpacks, perfumes and watches, among other products, at the border control point Las Crucitas, Potrerilos, El Paraíso.

Police explained that the contraband, which has “an approximate value of 18,023,500 lempiras in the Honduran market,” was not accompanied by adequate documentation.

A 42-year-old man from the Nuevo San Juan neighbourhood, La Lima, Cortés, was detained in the incident. He was reportedly charged with the crime of smuggling to the detriment of the public treasury.
