Jamaica Govt. To Swear In New Minister


CaribWorldNews, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Mon. July 13, 2009: The Bruce Golding administration in Jamaica is set to swear in a new member to its cabinet this week.

Marlene Malahoo-Forte has been added as a senator and minister of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. She will be sworn in at Kings House on Wednesday, July 15th.

Malahoo-Forte will replace Colonel Trevor MacMillan, who recently resigned.

The new senator has had an outstanding career as a resident magistrate and previously served as assistant director of public prosecutions.

Prime Minister Golding said Malahoo would bring value to the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, at a time when the global challenges confronting Jamaica, require intense and strategic foreign policy responses.
