Thirty-nine Certificate and Badge of Honour recipients from Grand Cayman are scheduled to receive their honours at a by-invitation ceremony at Government House on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm.
People across all three islands in Cayman were named as recipients in the 2022 New Year’s honours list, all of whom will receive the awards. The total number of these recipients in the Cayman Islands this year are 44.
The five recipients from Cayman Brac will receive their awards at a ceremony on June 4, as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on the Brac, details of which are to be announced.
On Thursday at Government House, the 24 women and 15 men – from Grand Cayman and one invitee from Little Cayman – will receive their awards from His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Martyn Roper, OBE and the Premier, Hon. Wayne Panton, JP, MP at Thursday’s event.
Deputy Governor, Hon. Franz Manderson, MBE, Cert. Hon. will welcome the gathering, announce the awardees and close the event. National anthem and National Song will be led by Mr. Rudy Myles, Cert. Hon., CMH.
The 39 recipients are from the public sector, covering both core government and statutory authorities, as well as the private sector. The majority were honoured for meritorious services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Other awardees are for services rendered to the Financial Services industry, legal services, the Public Service Pension Board, broadcasting, the media and charitable organisations.
The Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour recognises outstanding service to the nation and is awarded on the basis of achievement, excellence and merit.
