Fake lockdown report circulating

This fake newsletter in an email sent to recipients with candw.ky email addresses did not originate with the Compass and those who receive it are encouraged not to click on the link.

A fake email purporting to originate from the Cayman Compass is being sent to some users, falsely announcing a new lockdown for the islands.

The email, which uses the Compass logo, mirrors the Compass daily newsletter and invites readers to click on a link.

The information contained in the email is incorrect. No new lockdown measures have been announced for the Cayman Islands.

This email did not originate from the Cayman Compass and readers are warned that clicking the link could put them and their associated electronics at risk.

This is the latest of several emails since the pandemic began that contains fake information that has been made to appear like it comes from the Compass. The RCIPS has been alerted to the fake emails.

The emails, as far as the Compass is aware, are only being received by people with candw.ky addresses.
