CCRIF offering postgraduate scholarships to CARICOM members | Loop Cayman Islands

The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) is now inviting scholarship applications from citizens of CARICOM member countries and CCRIF member countries in the Caribbean for postgraduate studies in areas such as disaster risk management (DRM), disaster risk financing, natural resources management, risk management, climate change, civil with environmental engineering, actuarial science, and meteorology. These scholarships are administered by The University of the West Indies.

A total of four scholarships will be offered by CCRIF on an annual basis to students entering their second of three years in the following undergraduate programmes of study:

Faculty of Science and Technology at Mona for a major in Geography or GeologyFaculty of Humanities and Education at Mona for a major in GeographyFaculty of Engineering at Mona for a degree in Civil EngineeringFaculty of Science and Technology at Cave Hill for a degree in Environmental SciencesFaculty of Science and Technology at Cave Hill for a degree in MeteorologyFaculty of Engineering at St. Augustine for a degree in Civil with Environmental EngineeringFaculty of Engineering at St. Augustine for a degree in Land ManagementFaculty of Science and Agriculture at St. Augustine for a major in GeographyFaculty of Science and Agriculture at St. Augustine for a degree in Environmental Natural Resource ManagementFaculty of Social Sciences at St. Augustine for a special management studies degree in Insurance and Risk Management

Each scholarship is valued at US$4,000 per year and students must apply at the end of their first year.

Students must be registered at one of the UWI campuses and pursuing select degrees related to DRM, civil engineering, geography, geology, environmental management, etc.

Students must have a GPA of at least 3.0 at the end of first year and this must be maintained during their second and third years.

To apply for one of these scholarships,applicants may visit the scholarship section on their campus website to obtain the application form then submit along with the other relevant documents to the Office of Student Financing.

Short-listed candidates will be selected by a panel comprising personnel from the UWI with recommendations made in selecting the final candidates. The final selection of awardees will be undertaken by CCRIF.
