Cayman’s open water swimmers snag 2 golds, a silver and a bronze | Loop Cayman Islands

The 5 kilometer Open Water competition in the 2022 Carifta Swimming Championships in Barbados was held Wednesday as the last event after Cayman concluded day 4 in third position with 754 points. Held at the picturesque Carlisle Bay, a, natural harbor located on the southwest coast of Barbados, more than 30 swimmers navigated through changing weather conditions and anchored boats as they swam the course (1km laps). And as has been the trend in the swimming championships, Cayman came out on top.

Among the eight open water swimmers from the Cayman Islands: Kyra Rabess, Lola Haworth, Teagan Nash, Kathryn Lambert-Wragg, Connor Macdonald, Will Sellars, Phin Ellison and Jack Clark-Terrell, Cayman claimed two golds, a silver and a bronze medal.

Kyra Rabess finished off an impressive week and her Carifta career by with a Gold in the 16-18-year-old age group. Lola Haworth secured a gold in the 14-15-year-old age group category, while Teagan Nash finished with a silver in the same age category.

Among the boys, Connor Macdonald claimed a bronze medal in the 16-18-year-age division.
