Forecasts from the Cayman Islands National Weather Service (CINWS), The Weather Channel (weather.com) and Accuweather are pointing to umbrella weather in the Cayman Islands over the next week.

CINWS says that a weak pressure gradient across the northwest Caribbean will support an increase in cloudiness and showers over the next few days. Satellite images show a few low clouds over the Cayman area which are slowly drifting towards the west.

The Weather Channel predicts that there will a 76% chance of thunderstorms on Saturday. Accuweather predicts about two hours of rain on Saturday, mostly occurring in the morning and another two hours on Sunday, consisting of some morning showers and a thunderstorm. On Monday, The Weather Channel says there is a 68% chance of thunderstorms and the CI National Weather Service says there will be widely scattered showers. Accuweather says that these are likely to take place in the afternoon. On Tuesday, look out for widely scattered showers, according to CINWS, which Accuweather says will likely happen in the morning. Isolated showers are predicted for Wednesday by CINWS and Accuweather predicts that these will happen in the pm hours. Accuweather is predicting thunder storms for early in the day next week Thursday.

Local meteorologists say that the forecast for today includes partly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of showers. Temperatures will rise to the mid to upper 80’s ?F. Winds will be east to northeast at 5 to 10 knots. Seas will be slight with wave heights of 1 to 3 feet.

Winds will be east to northeast at 5 to 10 knots over Grand Cayman, east to southeast 5 to 10 knots over the Sister Islands. Seas will be smooth with wave heights less than 2 feet.

Tomorrow, Cayman can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a 40% chance of showers. Temperatures will rise to the mid to upper 80’s ?F. Winds will be east to southeast at 5 to 10 knots. Seas will be slight with wave heights of 1 to 3 feet.

The outlook is for similar weather through Saturday afternoon..
