News Americas, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Fri. Jan. 4, 2019: Almost 300 workers from one Caribbean island will be in Canada today to take up employment opportunities there  under the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme, (SAWP).

The Jamaican workers will be deployed mainly to farms in Ontario. They will be employed in greenhouse crop production, vegetable farming and fruit tree cultivation.

SAWP is part of the Ministry’s Overseas Employment Programme and involves contractual agricultural workers, who are recruited to meet the short-term demand for manual labor during planting and harvesting seasons.
